Wycombe Wanderers 0-1 Norwich City


NORWICH YOUNGSTER Korey Smith fired home with 13 minutes to go to hand the Canaries a deserved victory over Wycombe at Adams Park. The yellow and green army dominated the game throughout, and could have won by a far greater margin.

Simon Lappin, Russell Martin, Chris Martin and THE GROLT all found Wycombe 'keeper Scott Shearer in stunning form. Wycombe had clearly 'parked the bus' infront of the goal and would have been more than happy with a 0-0 draw.

MATT Phillips almost stole a lead when he latched onto Scott Davies' pass and smashed his shot against the post, only for it to rebound straight to Fraser Froster.

Moments later, WESLEY tied annother league one defender in knots, pulled the ball back to Smith, who slotted home.

Cue a huge sigh or relief with everyone who bleeds yellow and green. Norwich have finally leapfrogged Charlton. KEEP IT UP LAMBO'S ARMY!

No One Likes You

Norwich City 2-0 Millwall

THE YELLOW and green army made it eight consecutive home wins with a comfortable 2-0 win over South London side Milwall. Goals came almost enivatably from Wesley and THE GROLT.

Millwall started the stronger, but once Norwich kicked into gear their was no stopping the side in yellow and green. Wesley fired home from Jon Otsemobor's centre midway through the first half.

THE GROLT made the points safe on 68 minutes following a superb cross from the majestic Hoolahan. Who has become virtually unplayable at this level.

You now need to go all the way back to Gillingham away in October for the last game that did not feature a goal from either Grant Holt, Wes Hoolahan or Chris Martin.

PLEASE DONT SELL IN JAN LAMBO

All even in a terrific game.

Yeovil Town 3-3 Norwich City.

HAVING paid tribute to Norwich's terrific defense in my last post. They then went on to embarrass me at Huish Park, conceding three goals. Although, the fact we did not lose is a bonus.

Ex scum Dean Bowditch headed Yeovil into the lead, and it was not looking good for Norwich, the fluidity in attack was strangely missing. 1-0 down at half-time.

On the hour mark Chris Martin tapped home from a 'GROLT' cross, and the Doc powered home a header five minutes later, and all was looking good again. We had found our battling spirit that had been missing for the majority of the game. Unfortunately, this did not last and Shaun Macdonald rattled in an equaliser two minutes later.

Yeovil thought they had won it when Spurs loanee Jon Obika stooped to break canary hearts a minute into injury time. Lambo's never say die attitude was again embedded into the team, and four minutes into added time, Russell Martin's shot was deflected in by THE DOC. 3-3

Solid Foundation

NORWICH CITY 2-0 OLDHAM ATHLETIC

Ever since the infamous 7-1 home drubbing to Colchester. Paul Lambert has inspired a turnaround in the Canaries camp.

This is largely due to a solid foundation, Fraser Forster has been faultless since the whole 'Heartbreak in Yorkshire' fiasco. Adam Drury seems back to his old self, superb defensively and very effective going forward, THE DOC is back playing like Franco Baresi, and with Jens Berthel-Askou has yet to miss a header since his arrival in summer. Whichever player has slotted in at right-back has done an extremely good job, whether it be Jon Otsemobor, Michael Spillane, George Francomb or loanee Russell Martin. ADD to that the all action style of 'Rusty' and you have an extremly strong base.

Its this strong foundation that means we can dispatch teams like Oldham with such ease. Unsuprsingly it was the deadly due THE GROLT and WESLEY that did for Oldham at Carrow Road. THE GROLT opened the scoring on 21 mins, nodding in from a tight angle from Chris Martin's cross.

Wes Hoolahan double the canaries lead on 32 mins, cutting in from the right to smash beyond Daryll Flahavan. The back line was again inpenetrable, if anything was to get through, Forster would snuff out any danger. Annother comfortable afternoon for everyone associated with the YELLOW AND GREEN ARMY.

GROLTY DOES IT AGAIN

SOUTHEND UNITED 0-3 NORWICH CITY

THE GROLT has the potential to join Norwich legends such as Iwan Roberts, Darren Huckerby and Chris Sutton.

The former Shrewsbury and Forest man bagged a brace to ensure Norwich returned from Essex with all three points.THE GROLT fired in after 68 minutes after brilliant work from the industrious Korey Smith. Smith himself smashed home nine minutes later having been set up by Chris Martin.

THE GROLT added his second and Norwich's third in injury time after Luke 'rapid' Daley had been brought down in the area by Alan McCormack.

The passion and determination GROLTY plays with means he has already indeared himself to the Carrow Road faithful, Holt is a clear legend in the making.

To win so convincingly at a place like Roots Hall is a clear sign of how far we have come, and it looks like we have finally learnt how to win on the road. COME ON YOU YELLOWS.

Dumped OUT

CARLISLE UNITED 3-1 NORWICH CITY




THE CANARIES were unceremoniously dumped out of The FA Cup by a Carlisle side who were superb on the day. Carlisle goals came from Vincent Pericard, Kevan Hurst and Richard Keogh. With the Norwich goal naturally comming from THE GROLT.

Norwich's performance was nearly as dodgy as the reception from http://www.thefa.com/ which is how I watched the game. Through the haze, I just about saw Pericard give Carlisle the lead, showing why he boasts such teams as Juventus on his CV, with a superb volley. THE GROLT got his standard goal following brilliant work from Wesley.

15 seconds into the second half Pericard (literally) handed the ball to Hurst, who swept into the corner to give Carlisle the lead. Norwich flattered to deceive throughout, and although the neat passing was there, never looked like equalising. Carlisle wanted it more and battled hard and deserved their two goal lead that was given to them by Richard Keogh. Keogh headed home from a Graham Kavanagh corner, to put the game beyond any doubt.

Time for the old adage "lets concentrate on the league, its more important". Funny how its only ever the side who gets knocked out who thinks this.

Can't Stop Winning Under Lambo

Norwich 4-1 Brighton

The confidence at Carrow Road is so high these days, we go out expecting nothing more than three points, and this is exactly what we got against Brighton.

Norwich dispatched with a fairly competent Brighton side with ease. Ever since THE GROLT chipped in as early as the third minute the result never looked in doubt. 18 minutes later Wesley Hoolahan scored for the fourth league game running to double the lead.

Naturally for Norwich, there was a little wobble, James Tunnicliffe tapped home, having been set up by Glenn Murray. The Norwich team of last year would have gone on to draw this game, but only eight minutes later Simon Lappin's free-kick was bundled into his own net by the hapless Tommy Elphick. The points were safe. Chris Martin decided to get in on the act and make the score more respectable with a low drive from outside the box with eight minutes remaining.

This is very exciting times to be a Norwich fan, a team playing superb football, winning and scoring goals. Keep it up boys.

Too Easy

Paulton Rovers 0-7 Norwich City


MANY FOOTBALL fans will dismiss this victory as Norwich defeating an extremely poor side, but how many 7-0 wins do you see in the FA Cup? Not many.

Paulton Rovers started off well and took the game to their more illustrious opponents. Striker Rob Claridge-very much in the same mould as namesake Steve- put himself about well, and had a header blocked on the line by Michael Nelson. James Tyrell also had an effort tipped over the crossbar by England under 19 goalkeeper Declan Rudd. At this point in the match it looked very much like my nightmares could come true, and Paulton were going to achieve the unthinkable.

Then the non-leaguers commited the cardinal sin, they left THE GROLT unmarked at the far post. Holt heading in from a Korey Smith cross. Phew! Eight minutes later it was 2-0, in form Chris Martin slotted home from Hoolahan's inch perfect pass. With three minutes to go till the break, THE GROLT was again left unmarked and the former Shrewsbury man headed the game out of the Bristol side's reach.

Paulton improved in the second half and stopped the scoring untill the 73rd minute when Wes Hoolahan lashed into the top corner, to grab himself a deserved goal. Chris Martin then stole the show, adding three more before full-time. Martin tapped home from Cody McDonald's cross, curled in a free-kick and headed home from Jens Berthel Askou's cross to complete the rout.

Paulton Rovers did look extremely average, so this victory is not much to get excited about. But it will be a hell of a long time before I see Norwich score seven again. AND hey it was a nice change to see the BBC vidiprinter spell out our goals in letters for a change. Kick if off!

Mark of Champions

STOCKPORT 1-3 NORWICH CITY

AN OLD footballing cliche is that Champions can win when they are not playing their best, and this is exactly what my team in yellow and green did at Edgeley Park. Having missed the first half due to blue and white ticket based confusion. I arrived just as the half-time whistle went, with Norwich 1-0 to the good. A GROLT header, following a mistake from Stockport keeper Owain Fon-Williams.

This game was never going to be a classic. All head tennis and late challenges. Stockport played right into our hands launching high balls down the middle, which was food and drink for THE DOC, and the man mountain that is Jens Berthel-Askou. We were soon 2-0 up, Chris Martin taking a private bungee jump at Paul Huntingdon's expense, and giving us a Penalty. Which Wesley gratefully slotted home, then decided he fancied a booking and dived headlong into the away fans.

It was comfortable, this is the first away game I had ever been to that was comfortable. But as any Norwich fan knows, for us to win easily without giving the fans a little scare is impossible. So no one was really shocked when Carl Baker's effort deflected in off Peter Thompson, who was blatantly in an offside position. The nerves started jangling again.

There were a few hairy moments, but when Coby 'roadrunner' McDonald robbed 'Man of the Match' Michael Rose, and squared it to THE GROLT, who does not miss from six yards with no goalkeeper, the points were safe.

Thanks to wins from Carlisle and Millwall, Norwich have moved up to within four point of the top two.

The Lambo bandwagon rolls on.
