Can Stephen Elliot fire us over the line?
On the face of it, Lambert seems to have done the trick again. Stephen Elliot is a goal scorer. Many might ask "do we need him?", and granted, we are the top scorers in the country. Goals have hardly been a problem.
Elliot may chip in with a few goals, but will play a much more important role. THE GROLT and Chris Martin will be looking over their Shoulders. Knowing that its not only Oli Johnson and Cody Macdonald breathing down their necks, but Republic of Ireland international Stephen Elliot is also ready for some action
During the 04/05 season, while Norwich fans where having their hearts ripped out in Fulham. Stephen Elliot was busy firing in the winner at Upton Park to hand Sunderland the title. A season where the 26 year old found himself third choice behind Kevin Kyle and Marcus 'SCUM' Stewart. Elliot still managed to score some extremely vital goals in that season, and even scored stunning goals against Newcastle and Manchester United in the Premiership the following season.
IN short, maybe we don't NEED Stephen Elliot, but we most definately want him in yellow and green. Hopefully he can fire Norwich City back to the Championship.KICK IF OFF..
Anthony McNa-KEY
But the former Watford and Swindon wide man has been pivotal in recent weeks, setting up winners in consecutive matches. A superb corner to Oli Johnson against Southend, and a brilliantly dug out cross to The Grolt at Oldham.
McNamee has injected some much needed pace into proceedings, and his trickery and quick feet have been a breath of fresh air. He has definitely given us something different. The pace and willingness to run at players that McNamee possesses means defenders will back off him, leaving a huge space either between our front line and midfield, which is the space where Hoolahan can thrive, or space between our midfield and back-line, in which Rusty can dictate play.
McNamee along with Russell Martin and Michael Rose have been Lambo’s only signings. This shows the NCFC faithful Lambert is not only a talented motivator and tactician, but is also very adept in the transfer market. Meaning (hopefully) there will be no more Adrian Leijers or David Carneys in the near future. Kick it off...
Winning Ugly
Crisis? What crisis? Two late Oli Johnson goals have led me to wondering what all the panic over the defeat at home to Southampton was all about. Johnson came on to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against Southend with two goals in the last twelve minutes, the winner in the 94th minute. Take that traffic dodgers.
Fair enough, I accept Norwich’s performances have been a bit disjointed recently. They have been a far cry from the recent form which had lead to us dispatching teams with ease at Carrow Road, but no team (not even Brazil) can play beautiful one touch football and win 4 or 5 nil every week, there are times when even the best teams lose games or need to grind out results. Through nothing but sheer determination, heart and in many cases a huge stroke of luck.
It is no coincidence teams at the top of the league seem to score late goals every week, and Norwich City are no different. Such is the new found confidence bread by Lambo, we now expect to win and do not give up until we do. Teams top of the league recognise there are 90 minutes in a game and it only takes a second to score a goal.
As for Saturday’s game, every team has a blip, and Southampton are a very good team. The game may have been different had Rusty not been sent off for breathing on an opponent. So there is definitely no reason to panic. KICK IT OFF...
